I am working on a huge project; curating a new designer showcase for Design Week NYC 2010 (more on this later) and I tell ya, it’s kicking my ass. I have started channeling my inner Wonder Woman. Around my wrists, VAMBRACES for deflecting bullets (paper cups) and around my waist, the trusty Lasso of Truth (belt to old sweater). I twirl around my room, chanting ‘Wonder Woman’~ I feel invigorated and ready to kick some ass. Thinking of trying it in costume. Stay tuned.

I have always abhorred those bloggers, who expose themselves so willing on the web. I tend to remain rather ambiguous on this blog, never wanting too expose myself too much to the online world. It can be a fine line between sharing and ‘I can’t believe you wrote that’. But lately my guilty pleasure has been reading the personal rantings on Becoming Jennie a blog written by Jennie Ketcham a.k.a former porn star Penny Flame. Jennie is currently on VH1’s Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew and a Colorado girl like myself. Jennie has been a porn star since the age of 18 and deals with her sex addiction, along with 7 others in a real rehab center in Pasadena. They attend group meetings with each other, participate in one on one counseling sessions (DRAMA! some really heartbreaking confessions) and hang out at the rehab center, all very Big Brother/Surreal Life like. There are occasional hallway confrontations, almost compulsive smoke break pow-wows (everyone whose been to rehab knows if you don’t smoke you miss out on the real dish) and even a physical assault thrown in for ratings.

More fun Williamsburg graffiti. Found this painted outside of the Drum Shop.

Ain’t that the truth!!!

My Danish friends are all trickling back home to Copenhagen after 6 months living in NYC. It’s going to be a bit sad to see them go. :-< It’s been fun experiencing their New York adventure! I am looking forward to an adventure or two with them in the future. Most certainly in foreign lands. ;>

I have a friend visiting from Denmark right now and we have been doing a lot of walking around the city. Yesterday, we caught the Gay Pride parade down in the West Village. It was so much fun!!

The energy was electric, so many happy people. I love watching the drag queens and many creative floats (a lot of gay marriage themed). By the time we reached the parade it had been going for about 5 hours and still no end in sight.

Was sitting with my friend Shannon working on our computers when her husband called and said he had heard Micheal Jackson died. We immediately flipped on the news and saw for ourselves. Being a child of the 80’s I remember when Thriller came out. Our math teacher made a deal with us-if we all did good on a test he would let us watch the full length video as a reward. When i remember Micheal Jackson, I think of him as the picture you see above. I was never convinced that the guy who wrote PYT, Billie Jean, Thriller was the same weird looking dude we saw shuffling into court in his pajamas. I love to sing along to his old songs but always had an issue with his charges of sexual molestation against children. And it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for his children. It’s kind of sad to lose a legend from your own generation but too be honest I have been mourning the death of the old Micheal Jackson for a long time.

My friend Emmy and I have been “working” from my apartment this week. Emmy is newly unemployed and is missing what I like to call the “coworker experience”. I discovered I also miss that experience and I get a lot more done when I have a friend to hang out with in my home “office”. Emme has started to call us the Micheal Scott Paper Company (if you are an Office fan you know what we are referring to if not catch up here) because of our goofy antics and questionable work ethic. We also take long breaks (Emmy refers to these moments as our Cafe Disco time) and make pancakes (not paper shaped). We have also succumbed to a nap or two during the work day (ok just once but we’ve only been doing it for a week). We have yet to make a delivery (again an Office reference) but we think with enough work (no naps) we may be able to pull a client or two from the competition. We’ll keep you posted!
