Everyone has doodled on a napkin at one time or another, but what do you do when you have no napkin to draw on? Apparently anything! Artist Cheeming Boey sells his miniature styrofoam cup masterpieces for up to $220 in art galleries. And to think I was just tossing my used cups out!

Woke up at 6:00 am today and although I am tired as hell it feels good to be up this early. I might consider a few days of early rising per week. Seems like I get so much done when I get an early start. But I could never, ever do it without my good friend-Joe. Coffee is my co-pilot. I have a creed I stand by-never trust someone who does not drink coffee. How do they wake up in the morning without that lightning jolt? Anyway, back to work and my precious coffee!
Not exactly sure what purpose these serve, other than making you look like a total douche. I hate briefs! Between you, me and the other 562 unique visitors who waste time reading this blog daily, I can barely tolerate seeing David Beckham and his fine ass in tighty whiteys (I said barely). Tighty whiteys are the underpants of girlfriend-less young dudes and married men who just don’t care anymore about impressing the wife. OK, OK it’s a novelty, I get it. And the quirky DIY commercial for the product is entertaining to watch. So without further ado we present, Handerpants, ladies and gentleman, the underpants for your hands.
We’ve had some wild thunderstorms here in NYC lately. It’s pretty much been raining on and off for three days straight. If it weren’t for the rain I would mind. I like dramatic weather. My friend says it’s because am dramatic. As if.
What a safe and humane way to thwart the fucker that tries to rob you. The anti burglar mat was made by Shimada, a Japanese company that usually makes traps for rats and other vermin.
Jake Lloyd, the child actor who played Young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace, is one glum alum. We, for one, can excuse the poor chap’s surliness. It must be hard to live with the fact that most Star Wars fans blame you (along with Jar Jar Binks) for ruining their beloved movie. Now ten years later, the 20 year old college student talks with Sci Fi Chanel Australia Blog about his the challenges of playing the role, his disdain for his classmates (he calls them unintelligent) and how being one of the most disliked characters in the Star Wars series has affected his life. It makes us wonder if perhaps Darth Vader was also taunted to this degree. If so, we can understand why he chose to go to the Dark Side . But for all his moaning and groaning, Jake Lloyd says he doesn’t want you to feel sorry for him. After watching the interview, we came away with the impression of him being an intelligent, geeky, awkward teen who people probably would have teased regardless of his Phantom Menace past. Unfortunately, the force is just not with him.
My Danish friends are all trickling back home to Copenhagen after 6 months living in NYC. It’s going to be a bit sad to see them go. :-< It’s been fun experiencing their New York adventure! I am looking forward to an adventure or two with them in the future. Most certainly in foreign lands. ;>
People, do you realize how much time it takes to blog? A lot. You can spend hours working on a post. And with 5 blogs to write and edit, it’s a 12-hour day sometimes. Key word-sometimes. Let’s face it, life in the big city is hectic. There always seems to be some fun and exciting event to go to. News flash!! Fun is a time thief. But let’s face it, I could be a bit more diligent in updating all of my blogs. I work pretty hard on Modern Urban Living. I do check my comments and stats on it everyday. But there are times I can go a week or two with no posts (yikes!). Modern Urban Style is just starting to develop and the readership grows stronger so it encourages me to post more. And Modern Urban Baby now has a writer so I don’t really worry to much about it’s day to day posts but there is still a lot of work to be done on the backend-(updates, new themes, advertising).
Sooo…in the second installment of, “Things I want to Do”, I profess my desire to work towards putting all of my (working) energy into my blogs. However, after almost two years of blogging, experience has taught me if you’re going to do something like this, you have to have structure. I have started to create that by simply comprising a list of what a typical productive day in the life of a problogger would look like. I have had some help, via various Probloggers out there and have begun to develop a format. I will keep you posted on my progress, err…well I guess you will be able to tell whether or not if I am doing it or not. :> Perhaps I will post it here to inspire other bloggers.
I’ve really been taking advantage of all the free summer events in NYC this summer. Saturday, I attended the Siren Festival at Coney Island with some friends visiting from Denmark. We watched the bands all day. Standouts: Spanx Rock from B’More, Monotonix and The Ravonettes. That night, to avoid the post festival subway crowds, we hung out on the beach amongst the disgusting piles of garbage, swapped stories about trips to foreign lands and got our feet wet in the dirty sea. Here are some photos for you to enjoy. :>
The Ravonettes at the Siren Festival, Coney Island, NYC.
We spent a majority of our time behind this wire fence which separated the beer garden from the audience. It was off stage right and we had a perfect view most of the time. Here you can see our friend Anders enjoying some tunes sans t-shirt.
Beautiful view of the Wonder Wheel at sunset. This was just about the time the Ravonettes wrapped up their set.
